SIRIUS XM Radio to Broadcast 4-Day Celebration of the New Wave Band, The Cure, During the Memorial Day Holiday

"4 for The Cure Memorial Weekend" will feature The Cure in concert plus a rare interview with lead singer Robert Smith exclusively on SIRIUS XM's 1st Wave channel

NEW YORK, May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SIRIUS XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) today announced it will broadcast a four-day celebration of the iconic New Wave band, The Cure. "4 for The Cure Memorial Weekend" will feature an exclusive, rare interview with frontman, Robert Smith, a previously unreleased concert recording and music spanning the band's three-decade career. "4 for The Cure Memorial Weekend" will launch on 1st Wave, SIRIUS channel 22 and XM channel 44, starting Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25.

For the SIRIUS XM special broadcast, 1st Wave channel host Richard Blade spoke to Robert Smith. Robert will offer SIRIUS XM listeners a glimpse into his very private personal life and discuss his band's music--both old favorites and new songs--songwriting, recording, and performing live. The Robert Smith interview will air one-time only on Sunday, May 24 at 11 am ET.

SIRIUS XM will also broadcast The Cure's previously unreleased concert performance from the band's appearance at Los Angeles's Hollywood Bowl on May 31, 2008. This exclusive 3-hour broadcast will air on Friday, May 22 at 6 pm and will be rebroadcast on Saturday, May 23 at 12 pm ET; Sunday, May 24 at 10 pm ET and Monday, May 25 at 4 pm ET.

Additionally, Robert Smith will guest deejay throughout Memorial Day weekend, introducing Cure songs and offering his insights into the band's music, including the New Wave classics "Let's Go to Bed," "Just like Heaven" and "Friday I'm in Love."
