Mix Nashville Announces 'Anatomy of a Hit' Panelists
Dann Huff, John McBride, Jacquire King, Vance Powell to Headline Popular 'Anatomy of a Hit' Panel Series
Producer Greg Droman, singer-songwriter Jen Foster highlight Special Session
EMERYVILLE, Calif., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton Media's Mix magazine today announced the addition of Nashville producers Dann Huff, John McBride, Vance Powell, Jacquire King and Greg Droman to the lineup for Mix Nashville, the popular two-day professional audio event to be held May 19-20 at Soundcheck Nashville.
"We're thrilled to have these producers come out and share their talents and insights with the Nashville community," says Tom Kenny, editorial director of Mix. "The level of record production in Nashville right now is unmatched in the industry, and we're seeing techniques that bring to mind the best of a '70s rock sound with all the advantages of today's digital systems. And it's all based on the foundations of solid Nashville-style songwriting."
Super-producer Dann Huff (Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Martina McBride) and producer/Blackbird Studio owner John McBride will take the stage on Tuesday afternoon to go behind the scenes for the production of Martina McBride's Shine, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in March. Recorded at Blackbird, Shine captures McBride's powerhouse vocal and contemporary sound.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mix Nashville presents an afternoon with producer/engineers Jacquire King and Vance Powell. King, who co-produced (with Angelo Petraglia) the stellar Only By the Night from the Kings of Leon, has emerged as one of Nashville's most in-demand producers, with a fondness for 16-track tape. Powell, meanwhile, teamed up with Jack White and Joe Chiccarelli to produce the critically acclaimed and Grammy-winning (Best Engineered, Non-Classical) Consolers of the Lonely by The Raconteurs.
Also, longtime musical chameleon and Nashville producer Greg Droman (LeeAnn Womack, Brooks & Dunn),will join his latest artist, award-winning singer-songwriter Jen Foster, on stage for a Wednesday afternoon Special Session on the songwriting and production of Foster's about-to-be-released album project, Thirty-Nine.
Plus, Mix Nashville has added the Networking Sessions to their daily programming. Presented by Next Big Nashville & American Songwriter, this nightly happy hour gives All Access attendees the opportunity to connect with other industry pros and enjoy live performances by Kyle Andrews and Pico vs Island Trees and sets by local DJs.
Mix Nashville happens May 19-20, 2009 at Soundcheck Nashville. Registration for the event is open, and special discounts for students are available. Onsite registration will be available as well.
