Hard Rock International's Memorabilia Collection Available on June 1
MACAU, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- City of Dreams today announced Hard Rock International's Memorabilia Collection will be featured at Hard Rock Hotel at City of Dreams starting June 1. City of Dreams is an integrated entertainment resort set to become the "must experience" destination in Macau. It is being developed by Melco Crown Entertainment Limited (NASDAQ:MPEL), an entertainment company listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market.
Hard Rock Hotel at City of Dreams will include some of the most valued and treasured pieces of rock history. Hard Rock's Memorabilia Collection has grown over the years through donations, auctions, and acquisitions from some of the world's greatest musicians and artists.
"Hard Rock International displays a wide range of music artifacts in all of our properties, showcasing icons of music from early rock 'n' roll through today's current artists. In addition, as an international brand, we include well-known artists who are local to the region and represent the Hard Rock culture. In Macau, Hard Rock International was fortunate to recently acquire memorabilia from Chinese Superstar Jacky Cheung," said Mr. Hamish Dodds, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hard Rock International.
The birth of Hard Rock International's memorabilia collection began when Eric Clapton, a regular customer at the original Hard Rock Cafe London, asked the staff if he could hang his guitar on the wall to mark his favorite bar stool as "his spot." One week later a package from The Who's Pete Townshend arrived with a guitar and a note reading, "Mine's as good as his! Love, Pete."
Hard Rock has procured more than 70,000 items, including guitars, clothing and costumes, platinum LPs and other rare artifacts displayed in Hard Rock Cafe, Hotel and Casino locations worldwide. The collection spans from Elvis Presley's 1976 Harley Davidson with custom blue and gold finish to Jim Morrison's famous brown leather pants worn at The Doors' 1968 show at the Hollywood Bowl.
Mr. Greg Hawkins, President of City of Dreams, said, "As an urban-inspired leisure and entertainment destination resort, City of Dreams will deliver a range of leisure and entertainment options to be found within a single "city-like" complex. We are very pleased to have the top international artists' including Jacky's collectibles featured in the Hard Rock Hotel, Macau. As the only Memorabilia Collection with a Chinese artist being featured, we believe that this unique offering will soon become the hottest tourist attraction in the region."
Hard Rock Hotel will display Madonna's black satin bustier, Prince's iconic "love" symbol hat with gold chain-link veil, and Michael Jackson's signature sequined glove and fur coat from Elvis Presley.
The Jacky Cheung collection will feature a guitar from the Jacky 1999 Live in Concert World Tour and two glamorous sequined outfits and a scarf woven with metal chains from The Year of Jacky Cheung World Tour 2007-2008, which toured 58 cities around the world and attracted more than 2 million fans.
