Re: Your Memorial Day Holiday Weekend Road Trip/Travel Tips Stories With Rising Gasoline Prices
TV networks and stations are planning stories regarding gasoline price increases ($.25 a gallon in the last three weeks) leading into the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend and heavier summer driving season.
This week, the Alliance to Save Energy and its 13 diverse nonprofit, governmental, trade association, and for-profit partners launched phase 2 of its award-winning Drive $marter Challenge fuel efficiency consumer campaign which provides TV networks and stations a Broadband Media Website www.drivesmarterchallenge.org/broadband with downloadable video, audio, and images to help tell your fuel efficiency and holiday road trip/vacation tips consumer stories.
The Drive $marter Challenge campaign is designed to help consumers reduce their annual gasoline costs, overall US national gasoline consumption, vehicle miles traveled, and CO2 emissions. We don't have to wait until 2016 for new fuel efficiency standards announced by President Obama yesterday to make our vehicles more fuel-efficient.
The Drive $marter Challenge Broadband Media Website offers high definition and other formats of video including a :60 news segment with Alliance to Save Energy President Kateri Callahan focused on road trips/vacation tips and unique B-roll footage which illustrates 20 driving and saving tips plus transportation visuals (on highways, in town, at gas stations, changing gasoline prices), visuals of the Drive $marter Challenge website where drivers can find out exactly how many hundreds of dollars they can save on gasoline with their specific vehicle by taking six driving and vehicle maintenance actions, and soundbites from the American Petroleum Institute's Chief Economist John Felmy and Callahan.
The media site also contains five humorous radio PSAs in English and Spanish, seven podcasts by a NASCAR driver, and a fun "Driving and Saving" Spanish song in the popular reggaeton Latino beat which is downloadable to MP3 players, iPods, and cell phones (as ring tones).
Most TV footage is downloadable. High definition and other hard copies can be obtained from Michelle Radz, mradz@dwjtv.com or (201) 445-1711 x209.
We have also prepared money-saving road trip tips for the Memorial Day holiday weekend which is expected to see greater road trips than last year -- http://ase.org/content/news/detail/5597.
