Daniel Pearl's Wall Street Journal Colleagues Meet at the Newseum to Reflect on Pearl's Life, Work and Legacy

June 1 Screening of 'A Mighty Heart' Concludes Spring Reel Journalism With Nick Clooney Film Series

WHAT: "A Mighty Heart," starring Angelina Jolie, depicts the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. The movie is based on the harrowing 2003 memoir by Daniel's wife, Mariane Pearl. Three fellow Journal reporters will discuss the film and share memories of their late friend and colleague. Steve Stecklow was the last person to share a byline with Pearl; John Bussey was the Journal's Washington bureau chief and Pearl's boss at the time of his kidnapping; and Steve Levine is a former Journal correspondent who worked closely with Pearl in Pakistan.

Reel Journalism is co-produced by the Newseum and American University's School of Communication as part of an effort to use films about journalism to encourage discussion about the critical role and responsibilities of a free press in a democratic society.
