In Costco Stores Today
Affordable HD-1 Tabletop Device Features iTunes(R) Tagging, iPhone(R)/iPod(R) Dock and Superior Sound
MONTEBELLO, Calif., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- TEAC America, Inc., the largest subsidiary of Tokyo-based TEAC Corporation, a billion-dollar global corporation and a world leader in audio technology, announces the introduction of its first HD Radio product: the TEAC HD-1. This tabletop iPod docking system, equipped with HD Radio technology, delivers a superior audio experience and compelling new content via HD Radio programming. The TEAC HD-1 also features iTunes Tagging capability and is available at select Costco stores nationwide.
"With digital radio reaching critical mass across America, TEAC is excited to unveil the HD-1, our introductory HD Radio product. In keeping with our heritage of offering consumers high-quality, high-performance products and stylish design, the decision to include HD Radio technology's advanced digital entertainment is a natural one," said Randy Madey, National Sales Manager, TEAC America, Inc. "The affordable HD-1 will be sold at Costco and is a great value proposition for consumers in this economy. The HD Radio receiver will deliver premium sound with an iPod dock and a seamless music buying experience via iTunes Tagging."
HD Radio technology enables the TEAC HD-1 to offer new FM channels, crystal-clear digital sound and on-screen artist/title information - all free. Across the country there are nearly 2,000 HD Radio stations currently on the air, plus more than 1,000 new FM HD2/HD3 channels. And, using iTunes Tagging, an innovative HD Radio feature, consumers can "tag," songs they hear on FM HD Radio stations by simply pressing a button on the radio. Once connected to an iPod or iPhone, the HD-1 will automatically upload the song information. The next time the iPod is synced to iTunes, the tagged songs will automatically appear as a "Tagged playlist" of selected songs that can be previewed, purchased and downloaded. A list of HD Radio stations is available at www.hdradio.com.
The TEAC HD-1, with an MSRP of $129.99, plays and charges iPhones and all iPods, including the iPod touch. It is equipped with a remote control, dual alarm clock with a snooze button and five equalizer presets for improved audio fidelity. The HD-1 also comes with a headphone jack and video and audio outputs. The device's rear-firing ports deliver a rich bass response, allowing for superior sound.
