Project 'Hangin' Out With My Baby' Launches National Children's Music Giveaway Campaign at California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles
NEW YORK, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- "Hangin' Out With My Baby," a CD whose songs celebrate the special relationship parents have with their newborns, infants and toddlers, will be distributed free to new parents in a national campaign involving over 200 hospitals throughout the U.S. Starting today with a live concert at the California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles, 50,000 CDs will be given away this year by participating hospitals.
Arranged and produced by Rod Clemmons of Child Music Online, Inc. (childmusiconline.com), written by performer and educator Dwayne Arvinger and sung by him and his wife Lee Munn Arvinger, "Hangin' Out With My Baby" features songs that transform tasks such as preparing breakfast, giving a bath and even changing diapers into shared experiences in which the everyday routines of childcare become special. The nationwide campaign, called Project "Hangin' Out With My Baby," will provide thousands of copies of the CD to expectant mothers attending birthing classes, new parents as they leave hospitals with their babies and to National Healthy Start, a non-profit organization that promotes community-based maternal and child health.
"'Hangin' Out With My Baby' is a wonderful parenting tool to put burning into the learning of new parents, infants and toddlers," said Dr. Joycelyn Elders, former Surgeon General of the United States. "It offers a great way to relax the relentless rigors of child rearing by transforming parenting routines into pleasant rituals for both children and parents with educational and fun songs."
Dwayne Arvinger, who will perform songs from the CD and personally sign copies for new parents and expectant mothers in the CHMC maternity ward, said that he wrote the songs as a way of coping with the unfamiliar responsibilities of caring for his baby son Asher. "I discovered that the music not only made the work routine go more smoothly, it created an environment that enhanced the special bond between me and my son."
Featuring 13 numbers, including "The Breakfast Song," "Time To Get Dressed," "The Diaper Change," "Supper Time Blues" and the title song, "Hangin' Out With My Baby," the album celebrates the small, often magical, moments that comprise a typical day of childcare. "'Hangin' Out With My Baby,' follows in the age-old tradition of using music to turn work and everyday interactions into something fun and playful," said Clemmons. "Our goal was to provide parents and their babies a musical background that would enrich their new lives together. I believe we have succeeded."
