Renowned Canadian Artist Corb Lund Signs With New West Records
The Juno-Award Winning Artist Will Showcase At The New West Records Party During The South By Southwest Festival In Austin, TX
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- New West Records is pleased to announce the signing of acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter Corb Lund. Lund's new record, anticipated Fall 2009, will be released on New West worldwide. In Canada, New West will work with Universal Music, who will distribute the new release there. The Juno-Award winning Lund sells out arenas in Western Canada and is becoming increasingly visible in the United States. He's toured with artists such as Hayes Carll and Robert Earl Keen and will make his New West debut March 19th during the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX. The deal was announced today by the President of New West Records, Cameron Strang and in Canada by Randy Lennox, President and CEO, Universal Music Canada.
We are very excited to be working with Corb," says Cameron Strang, President of New West Records. "He is an incredibly talented songwriter and performer who fits beautifully on the New West roster."
Lund was born and raised in rural Southern Alberta. He has been singing about his country upbringing for more than a decade on critically acclaimed albums such as the gold-selling Five Dollar Bill (2002) and Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer (2005). His current release is Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier! (2007). Lund is the current Canadian Country Music Association's Roots Artist of the Year for the fifth consecutive year and has won countless Western Canadian Music Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards and both Canadian and U.S. Independent Music Awards. Lund's music reaches across genres allowing him to appear at varied major festivals worldwide from the main stage at Glastonbury in the UK and Virginfest in Canada to a poetry festival in Nevada.
"Cut from the Alberta ranch hero cloth, Corb Lund has fast become one of Canada's most exuberant singer/songwriters," commented Lennox. "We have been long-time admirers of Corb's incredible narratives and are thrilled to be in the saddle with Cameron and his New West team."
Lund will be touring Australia at the end of February through the beginning of March before returning to Nashville to start recording his new album with producer Harry Stinson, who also produced Lund's last three releases.
