Noted filmmaker to commemorate Lincoln's 200th birthday and Black History Month with a discussion of his landmark documentary series

NEW YORK, Feb. 10, 2009 - With the recent inauguration of America's first black president and the 200th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's birth on Feb. 12, Black History Month is especially meaningful this year. Join Ken Burns, whose films have educated and entertained viewers for the past 30 years, as he discusses his masterful documentary series, "The Civil War;" describes Lincoln's role in abolishing slavery and reuniting a divided nation after a horrific war; and reflects upon the revered president's legacy.

Who:

Ken Burns has been making documentary films for more than 30 years. Since the Academy Award(R)-nominated "Brooklyn Bridge" in 1981, he has gone on to direct and produce some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries ever made, including "The Civil War," "Baseball," "Jazz" and "The War." He is currently working on "The National Parks: America's Best Idea," a documentary series set to air on PBS this fall.
