dLifeTV Announces New Season Programming and Celebrity Guests; Only Nationally-Broadcast Program About Diabetes Celebrates 5th Year and 200th Show

Diabetes Impacts One in Four Americans Show Features Real People with Real Stories, including Celebrities Living with Diabetes Like CBS News' Bob Schieffer and Denver Broncos' Quarterback Jay Cutler

WESTPORT, Conn., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- dLife, a LifeMed Media Company, announced today the new 2009 television schedule for dLifeTV, the first and only TV program devoted to people living with diabetes, airing every Sunday on CNBC at 7:00PM ET, 6:00PM CT, and 4:00PM PT. The new season lineup features NFL Denver Broncos' quarterback Jay Cutler, CBS News' Face the Nation anchor Bob Schieffer, and Little People, Big World's Matt Roloff.

dLifeTV, which kicks-off its new season on Sunday, February 8th, is hosted by two people who understand diabetes firsthand: Nicole Johnson, a former Miss America, and Jim Turner, a renowned actor and comedian.

Other hot topics to be covered this season include "fighting for insurance," helping children deal with diabetes, surviving sports stadium food, how to manage diabetes at 30,000 feet, expert answers to difficult questions, and cooking diabetic recipes with Chef Michel Nischan. Focused on the daily issues of living with diabetes, in a newsmagazine format, dLifeTV delivers the information and the motivation to live a healthy diabetes life.

"As a diabetic myself, I am extremely excited to deliver yet another season full of talent, entertainment, and education," said Howard Steinberg, CEO of dLife. "Our network is growing, with nearly half a million people making connections with us each week."

"People often tell me that 'I don't feel so alone anymore with dLife,' which is a powerful reaction to a television program," said Steinberg. "dLifeTV gets people engaged, which is half the battle in treating a disease that you must live as a lifestyle. Data shows that the more educated and engaged people with diabetes are, the more likely they are to stay compliant with treatment guidelines and, ultimately, they are healthier."

The majority of current diabetes resources provide solely clinical information. dLife's approach is lifestyle based and has assembled the most comprehensive multi-media experience to help engage, educate, and inspire people with diabetes and their caregivers. In addition to dLifeTV, dLife.com is the largest and most visited commercial diabetes site, providing more than 80,000 pages of diabetes related information; 8,500 diabetic recipes; 400 broadcast quality videos; more than 100,000 forum topics; expert Q&A; a team of diabetes bloggers; and more.

Approximately 8 percent of the U.S. population, or 24 million Americans, have diabetes and nearly a quarter of them don't know it. Another 57 million have prediabetes. A recent study showed that diabetes costs more than $200 billion a year in the U.S., which equals 10 percent of all U.S. healthcare spending by government and the public.

"dLife's television and Internet programming provide all Americans affected by diabetes with a one-stop center of information, tools, and connections that augment the information received from their physician or caretaker - enhancing the care they need to stay healthy," said Steinberg.

dLifeTV airs every Sunday on CNBC at 7:00PM ET, 6:00PM CT, and 4:00PM PT.
