CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossroads Charlotte, a major community initiative that offers four plausible stories about Charlotte's future to the community for response and action, has announced that tonight's premiere event has sold out at all six locations across the community.

The premiere event is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) at six locations, including: Ballentyne Village Theatre, the Charlotte Museum of History, Davidson College, Epicentre Theaters, Johnson C. Smith University and UNC Charlotte. The Charlotte Museum of History location will screen the movie with sub-titles in Spanish.

The film, entitled "Crossroads Charlotte: The Movie" is a cinematic version of the four Crossroads stories, each depicting a possible future for the Charlotte community in the year 2015. The four stories represent a range of futures, from the very bleak Fortress Charlotte to the optimistic and progressive Eye to Eye.

"We've been overwhelmed and excited by the response from the community. Those not able to attend the premiere can go to www.crossroadscharlotte.org to view the movies just after 8:00 p.m. tonight, or contact Crossroads Charlotte to obtain a DVD and discussion guide," says Crossroads Charlotte Executive Director Patricia Zoder.

A new interactive Crossroads Charlotte website will also go live tonight at www.crossroadscharlotte.org. The site features the films, video responses to the stories from the Crossroads poets, an interactive map showing Crossroads activities across the community, and the ability for users to upload news articles to move a "community compass" showing that Charlotte- Mecklenburg may be moving towards one of the Crossroads Charlotte stories. The site was designed and developed by Studiobanks, based in Charlotte, NC as an integral part of an overall civic engagement communications strategy developed by Russ Communications, also a local company.

Major funding for Crossroads Charlotte is provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Strategic leadership for Crossroads Charlotte is provided by Foundation For The Carolinas, with community organizing and programming by Community Building Initiative.
