DALLAS, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- HDNet presents actress/supermodel Angie Everhart in a very special episode of the network's InFocus documentary series, "Conquering Kilimanjaro with Angie Everhart," which premieres on HDNet, Tuesday, February 24 at 10:00 p.m. ET.

"Conquering Kilimanjaro" follows Angie and her crew as they climb the legendary and consummately challenging African mountain with gritty resolve to reach its summit. Along the way, one of the crew members is even forced to turn back due to Acute Mountain Sickness - one of the many dangers climbers face when attempting to tackle Kilimanjaro.

Through stunning HD photography, the film shows not only the majestic beauty of Kilimanjaro, but also the tragic effects that climate change is having on the fragile ecosystems at the mountain's base - not to mention the melting glaciers at the summit.

On the ascent, Angie and her crew are assisted by the tour company F&S Kiliwarriors, a group who specialize in using the most efficient trail up to the peak, in the most environmentally safe manner possible. The group's tour guide shows Angie around the base of the mountain, highlighting various organizations and national parks geared towards saving the topography of the area. The guide also explains the vital links that Kilimanjaro maintains, from glacial water feeding much of the region's water supply (especially for the elephants who trek hundreds of miles for a drink at one of the many mountain pools) to numerous unique plants found only on the mountain.

At 19,340', Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, and the tallest peak in Africa. Due to the location and height of this amazing wonder of nature, almost every climate type on earth is represented, including a year-round snow-topped summit. The glaciers around its summit, however, have receded 80% since first measured in 1912 - a reduction that has been exacerbated by environmental changes in recent years. Scientists predict the glaciers will be gone by 2020 if current trends are not reversed.

"Conquering Kilimanjaro with Angie Everhart" premieres on HDNet, Tuesday, February 24 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
