America's Top Kissers Pucker Up for Valentine's Day Kiss-Off

Netflix Greatest Kiss Challenge Names Best Kissers, Celebrates Cinema's Most Memorable Moments

NEW YORK, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of Valentine's Day, America's most inspired kissing couples squared off here today at the Netflix Greatest Kiss Challenge to commemorate the greatest kisses in cinema history. The public voted on their favorite kisses and Netflix selected the final three couples from hundreds of hopeful pairs from around the country who had submitted video reenactments of famous movie kisses ranging from "The Notebook" to "On the Waterfront" at www.netflixgreatestkiss.com.

The championship event, held on the eve of Valentine's Day on custom-made movie sets in Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall, featured recreations of the famous kisses shared between Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in "Titanic," between Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable in "Gone with the Wind," and between Lea Thompson and Michael J. Fox in "Back to the Future."

Lacey Maynard and Kaleb Kohart of Colorado Springs, CO brought home the title of 'Netflix Best Kisser' in their re-enactment of "Gone with the Wind". A panel of judges rated each of the recreations on criteria that included acting quality, inventiveness and adherence to the original scene. Host/creator of the popular Web show "Beyond the Trailer" Grace Randolph, Stevie Ryan, an online "tastemaker," and Catherine Fisher, Netflix Director of PR, served as judges. Netflix presented the winning pair of kissers with a romantic trip for two to Las Vegas, including airfare, two nights stay at a posh hotel, romantic dinners and world-class entertainment.

"We were excited to see the highly creative and inspired interpretations of famous movie kisses through our online contest," said Leslie Kilgore, chief marketing officer for Netflix. "The three finalists for the 'Netflix Greatest Kiss Challenge' remind us of the special place these kisses hold in popular culture."

Since the search began last month, more than 400 movie kiss recreations were submitted online. Videos sent to Netflix ranged from the beach scene in "From Here to Eternity" and the classic "Casablanca" kiss, to the upside down kiss from "Spiderman" and the kiss of death from "The Godfather." The finalists were Damian Acosta and Megan Leyko of New York City for "Titanic," Lacey Maynard and Kaleb Kohart of Colorado Springs, CO for "Gone with the Wind," and Alonya Eisenberg and Darren Lanning of Los Angeles for "Back to the Future."
