WEGENER(R) Presents Digital Signage Workshop at Digital Signage Expo 2009

WEGENER(R) Presents Digital Signage Workshop at Digital Signage Expo 2009

Kamy Merithew to Speak at Workshop "After Hours' Uses for Digital Signage Networks"

DULUTH, Ga., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced that Kamy Merithew, vice president of marketing for WEGENER, will be a featured speaker at a free workshop, entitled "After Hours' Uses for Digital Signage Networks," on Wednesday, February 25th from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. The workshop is taking place during Digital Signage Expo 2009 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

This annual convention, now co-located with Interactive Technology Expo and the Out-of-Home Network Show, provides the largest concentration of exhibits and resources devoted to the creation, management, and presentation of digital signage networks. As a leading provider of comprehensive, networkable digital signage solutions, WEGENER will also exhibit and demonstrate its products at booth #2156 in the convention center.

In recent years, digital signage networks have been growing in popularity as a cost-effective means of building and reinforcing brand and corporate identities, as well as informing and entertaining customers in retail, hospitality, transportation, and other public venues. During the workshop, Merithew will focus on "after hours" uses for digital signage-specifically how retailers can use their digital signage networks to better communicate with their employees before and after store operating hours.

"Digital signage networks give corporations a dynamic, paperless means of communicating with employees who are dispersed across their retail sites," said Merithew. "It also offers point-to-multipoint distribution of information about sales training, theft prevention, security drills, employee benefits, and other timely corporate communications. This workshop will focus on techniques to maximize the scheduling of time-specific and repetitive content to serve multiple audiences."

The workshop will also cover how conditional access can be used to reconfigure video and audio outputs, effective uses for background music channels, and how to support remote access and multiple users for regional or departmental services. WEGENER's digital signage solution is unique, because its companion WEGENER(R) Compel(R) network control system is optimized for complex, regionalized control over schedules, content and delivery; Compel is currently used in many commercial, ad-supported network operations and digital signage solutions.

"We're extremely pleased to participate in Digital Signage Expo 2009, a show which is fast becoming the industry's premiere digital signage event," said Ned L. Mountain, president and chief operating officer of WEGENER. "We're also looking forward to educating operators on the many opportunities that exist for corporations to extend the use of their digital signage networks to communicate with employees and provide back office training."
