'Songs From My Classroom,' New CD From Child Music Online, Gets High Marks From Critics

NEW YORK, Dec 8 /PRNewswire/ -- "Songs From My Classroom," a new CD from musician and teacher Dwayne Arvinger, has earned rave reviews and endorsements from the critics who really count: educators, parents and their children. The album is available now at the Child Music Online Web site (www.childmusiconline.com) and CDBaby.com.

Featuring 14 songs written and performed by Arvinger (each with a bonus musical track for group sing-alongs), "Songs From My Classroom" celebrates the sheer fun of the learning experience. Beginning with "Hello," which teaches children how to introduce themselves to new classmates, and continuing in a variety of musical styles, the songs help kids learn to count ("Little Sally Walker"), follow the rules of the classroom ("Bono The Monkey,") or just enjoy being in school ("Great Day).

The acclaim for the CD has been vocal and unanimous:

"Each song is a lesson by itself. It makes for great interaction between
teachers and students. I would highly recommend it to kindergartens, first
and second grade classrooms and to parents with children of those ages."
Avance Byrd, Principal, Grant Center for the Expressive Arts, Tacoma,
Washington

"I especially appreciate having the sing-along tracks so I can insert my
own class names. I like the different music styles. We will certainly make
good use of this CD at our school. Thumbs up to you Mr. Arvinger!"
Trey Birkhead, Kindergarten Teacher Richardson, Texas

Arvinger is an accomplished musician and singer who has toured Europe in "Hair" and appeared in theatrical productions like "Fiorello" and "Dreamgirls." After working for several years as a caseworker in New York City's Administration for Children's Services, he earned a Master's Degree in education and has taught at public schools in Harlem and California. Upon becoming a father for the first time, he wrote and performed (with his wife Lee) a CD called "Hangin' Out With My Baby," also available from Child Music Online.

"No classroom should be without music," said Arvinger. "It is as important as pencil and paper. We learn and retain things better when they are set to music and it makes sense to utilize it to help students succeed. It also sets the tone of the classroom and makes everyone happier."
