SDK for 'miuro' Robotic Music Player Now Available for US Customers-Developers

CHICAGO, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ZMP Inc. of Japan, developer of the "miuro" robotic music player has today made available the SDK (Software Development Kit) for customers in the United States. The miuro SDK is available to telecommunication carriers, IT companies or related companies who may be able to integrate their Internet-based services with "miuro."

What is "miuro"?

"miuro," developed by ZMP Inc. (Japanese Robot Business Venture), is a music robot which travels freely around and between rooms, allowing continuous listening, and interaction with the listener. "miuro" can play music from an iPod, Internet radio, iTunes and Windows Media Player, through a high quality sound speaker system developed by ZMP with support of Kenwood, the Japanese audio company. "miuro" is also outfitted with a camera and wireless LAN for monitoring the room for remote control through a network. Additionally, "miuro" is able to follow a person using IR sensors and provides a user interface with touch sensors and remote control.

"miuro" is currently available in Japan, and ZMP Inc. is hoping that new applications can be included as plans for sales and distribution in the U.S. are developed.

What functions does the miuro SDK provide?

miuro SDK is a development tool for controlling "miuro" from PC (Linux or Windows) through a wireless LAN. The miuro SDK includes API software, samples, manuals and a "miuro" body. ZMP can provide additional services to equip "miuro" with an IR sensor, ambient light sensor and other sensors. Programming from Linux or Windows-based PCs is available for development of your new service.

Target Customers

ZMP expects the miuro SDK for to assist companies which provide telecommunication services, IT companies or content providers for home users. For example, "miuro" allows for user response to music that is played through the touch sensor interface. Integrating such user response data and network IT content services can create additional value for your current services. "miuro" has already entered into consumer market as a reliable product that can be used as a new platform for the delivery of new services.

ZMP Inc.

ZMP was established on January 31, 2001. While it develops and sells humanoid "PINO" and "nuvo", in the home robot business, it has developed a new "lifestyle" product with the music robot, "miuro." In the RT (Robot Technology) solution business, the "e-nuvo series" is rapidly spreading to the industrial high school, the technical college, the university, the laboratory, and the enterprise. In November 2007, ZMP set up Robotest INC., a company for certification and verification of robotics technology, jointly with FRI Ltd. and Pasona Tech, Inc.
