MobiTV Plays Key Role in Success of ATSC-M/H Standard
MobiTV raises its leadership voice in mobile arena
EMERYVILLE, Calif., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- MobiTV, Inc. today confirmed its more than year-long role in driving the adoption of the ATSC-Mobile/Handheld standard, which was successfully voted into a "candidate standard" on Tuesday of last week. This initiative will allow another option for users to enjoy entertainment and news on the go.
Alan Moskowitz, director of strategic alliances in the CTO Office at MobiTV, has served on the ATSC panel for the past 18 months, and confirms that MobiTV has worked cooperatively to ensure the success of this standard.
Moskowitz says, "We were honored to have taken our mobile expertise into the broadcast arena to accelerate a new mobile standard."
Anne Schelle, executive director of the Open Mobile Video Coalition comments, "It's not unusual for the development of standards to take more than 4 years. MobiTV's involvement has been instrumental in fast-tracking ATSC-M/H's development."
MobiTV has always maintained that the future of mobile TV is a hybrid formula of unicast and broadcast technologies. Their commitment to ATSC-M/H is not solely focused on a new standard, but rather to their vision of a platform that combines broadcast, unicast and interactivity.
CEO and Chairman Charlie Nooney underscores, "Our focus is on the end user and the technology that will deliver the best mobile experience for them, whether it's watching your local news, a live sporting event or a personalized vertical application."
