'The Coachella Valley Spotlight's' first recipient granted $25,000
PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Kids and volunteers with the Western Coachella Valley Police Activities League (WCV PAL) were surprised today with a $25,000 grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation. WCV PAL was the first recipient of the KPSP Local 2 Coachella Valley Spotlight, which is presented by the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation.
Throughout the month of December, the WCV PAL has been featured on KPSP Local 2's community program, Eye on the Desert, and on www.kpsplocal2.com. In addition, WCV PAL has been the subject of ongoing public service announcements on KPSP Local 2, the Palm Springs area CBS affiliate.
"The Coachella Valley Spotlight allows us to give deserving charities valuable media exposure," said Don Perry, KPSP Local 2 Vice President and General Manager. "Plus, the generous grant from the Berger Foundation allows recipients to continue their often lofty missions that are truly changing lives in our area."
The WCV PAL is a community-oriented leadership program that incorporates educational, athletic and recreational activities. The program puts youth under the supervision and positive influence of a law enforcement agency to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth.
"The Western Coachella Valley PAL program's objectives are in-line with the Berger Foundation's commitment to young people though education and leadership," said Ron Auen, President and Chief Executive Officer of the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation. "We believe it is a worthy recipient of the first Coachella Valley Spotlight. We are looking forward to our partnership with KPSP to extend more worthy organizations with much needed funds and exposure."
