Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors to Honor Ryan Seacrest & John Bendheim at Annual 'Road To A Cure' Gala

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Media entrepreneur, television and radio host Ryan Seacrest and real estate investor and philanthropist John Bendheim will be honored by the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors at their annual "Road To A Cure" Gala, December 2, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel. Rick Powell, Chairman of the Board of Governors, co-chairs the event with Debbee Klein Schwartz, Aaron Kaplan and Fran Solomon. The "Road To A Cure" Gala is sponsored by Lexus, which has donated a 2009 Lexus LS 600h L hybrid luxury sedan for an opportunity drawing during the event. Oscar-winner Lionel Richie and David Archuleta will perform; Larry King will host.
Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, will present the Heart of Hollywood Award to Ryan Seacrest, host and producer of multiple television and radio programs including American Idol, E! News, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, American Top 40 and LA's top-rated morning radio show 102.7 KIIS FM. Seacrest built Ryan Seacrest Productions (RSP) into a viable entity creating content for all media platforms. He can next be seen returning as host of the eighth season of Fox Television's #1 hit show, American Idol.
John Bendheim, president of Bendheim Enterprises, Inc., a real estate investment holding company, and founder of Inland Homes, will be honored with the Philanthropic Leadership Award. Bendheim's humanitarian endeavors have benefited a multitude of worthy causes including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he sits on the Board of Directors. He is past Chair of the medical center's Board of Governors and has also served as Chairman of the Cedars- Sinai Sports Spectacular, which raises millions of dollars for the Medical Genetics Institute.
The "Road To A Cure" Gala benefits the newly established Board of Governors Heart Stem Cell Center at Cedars-Sinai. The Center's focus includes new ways to regenerate the ailing heart using advanced cell-based treatments involving the patient's own adult, non-embryonic stem cells. The Center will strive to provide better alternatives to traditional drugs, heart transplantation and implanted devices.
The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Board of Governors comprises more than 700 prominent members of the Greater Los Angeles community, dedicated to providing support for the Medical Center's premier patient care and research programs. The Board of Governors plays an active and integral role as one of the primary leadership and fundraising organizations at Cedars-Sinai.
