C-SPAN Invites America to Tour the White House During C-SPAN's 'White House Week,' December 14-20

WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the nation turns its attention to the 44th First Family, Americans are invited to tour the White House through C-SPAN's upcoming White House Week, a weeklong presentation of original programming airing December 14th through 20th at 9:00 PM (ET) on C-SPAN.

The week debuts with C-SPAN's feature documentary, "The White House: Inside America's Most Famous Home," Sunday, December 14 at 9:00PM (ET). The network continues with six nights of additional White House programming (see attached schedule).

C-SPAN was granted extensive access by the First Lady to document the White House in detail, showcasing the architectural beauty and historic events that define each of the rooms of this American icon.

Exclusive interviews with the current First Family, White House staff, and renowned presidential historians are featured throughout the week, providing viewers with an in-depth, historical portrait of the White House. These accounts are complemented with the rich collection of the White House Historical Association's archives.

"The White House is a grand old home, an office building, and a museum of American history. And, it is also the only private residence of a head of state that is open to the public, free of charge. President Bush and I are happy to share an insider's view of this special home where we live and work," said Mrs. Bush.

"Our weeklong series examines the White House from both an educational and historical viewpoint," said Susan Swain, president of C-SPAN. "We take viewers beyond the velvet ropes, into the private quarters and working areas of the residence, providing a rarely seen look into the home of our nation's First Family."

White House Week airs nightly on C-SPAN at 9:00 PM (ET), December 14-20.
Programs include:

Sunday, December 14

White House Week's content-rich site (www.c-span.org/whitehouse) offers footage of the feature-length documentary, as well as extended interviews with historians and archival footage of past presidents and significant events throughout our nation's history.

A C-SPAN's original production, White House Week, was produced with assistance from First Lady Laura Bush and the White House Historical Association. Recorded in high-definition video to capture the beauty of the White House, this weeklong presentation airs on C-SPAN in standard definition and letterbox format. The series will be available in HD on DVD, and cable Video On Demand.
