Next Cleveland Botanical Garden Flower Show to Be Held May 21 - 25, 2009

Theme Is 'The Garden Goes To The Movies'

Preview Gala to Be Held May 20

CLEVELAND, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cleveland Botanical Garden Flower Show, the largest outdoor flower show in the United States, will return to University Circle, Cleveland's cultural district, Thursday, May 21 through Monday, May 25, 2009. A biennial event held over Memorial Day Weekend, next year's show will again run for 5 days. The Flower Show includes 10 acres of lush gardens, expert lecturers and demonstrations, and a world class horticulture and flower arrangement competition.

"The all-new gardens created especially for the show will once again feature some of the Midwest's top garden design talent and provide beauty and inspiration for the home gardener," says Garden Executive Director Natalie Ronayne.

While many flower and garden shows are staged in indoor convention halls, the Cleveland show is unique in presenting the gardens in their natural outdoor setting. The show has for years enjoyed "Major Show" status from both Garden Club of America and National Garden Clubs, Inc.

The theme for 2009, "The Garden Goes to the Movies," combines the glamour and excitement of the silver screen with the enchanting world of the garden. The fascinating new show gardens will be inspired by famous Hollywood movies, including The Secret Garden, Brigadoon, and Under the Tuscan Sun. A preview gala, "Hollywood & Vine," will be held on Wednesday, May 20, the evening before the show opens to the public. All proceeds from this special evening will benefit the Garden's Green Corps urban youth program.

Tickets go on sale March 1, 2009. Visit www.cbgarden.org to purchase advance tickets and for up-to-the-minute information on the show.
