Michigan Filmmakers Dean Teaster and DJ Perry Plan Next Feature Film 'TimberWolf' to Include Shooting Locations in Upper Peninsula

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan filmmaker Dean Teaster has started the pre-production stage of his next feature film titled "TimberWolf." Teaster's "TimberWolf" is the story of a Cherokee family living in the Great Smoky Mountains after the Trail of Tears. The film depicts the hardships they face when a relentless gang of outlaws pursue their mountain secret. Some of the filming and all other production will take place in Michigan, due to the recent film incentive program announced by Governor Jennifer Grandholm.

"We are excited to see this project begin as Dean Teaster's 'Ghost Town: The Movie' is released next month throughout North America and Canada through Lionsgate," said Barry Barnholtz of Barnholtz Entertainment in Hollywood, CA. Teaster, from Fowlerville, Michigan, along with DJ Perry of Lansing, Michigan, produced "Ghost Town: The Movie" from their Michigan offices in 2006.

The "TimberWolf" story was written by Teaster and Perry and will be turned into a screenplay by Perry who is also CEO of Collective Development in Lansing ( www.cdiproductions.com ). "Distribution of this movie will be again handled by Barnholtz Entertainment," said Teaster. "I am very pleased with their professionalism and ability to distribute. Perry wrote a wonderful screenplay from our original Ghost Town story, and I'm excited to see his screenplay for 'Timberwolf."

Tentative filming locations for "TimberWolf" include a location near Mumbai, India; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Ghost Town in the Sky, Maggie Valley, NC; and some isolated parts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula near Manistique. Cast will include Dan Haggerty of NBC's "Grizzly Adams;" Robert Bradley, Ghost Town's legendary "Apache Kid" gunfighter; and Tammy Stephens Teaster, Ghost Town's first and only female gunfighter "The Black Widow." The cast also includes Perry and Tony Hornus of Owosso, Michigan. Discussions are underway with large name Hollywood cast members and final choices will be announced later.

"Originally, I wasn't planning to shoot any part of this movie in Michigan, but after the recent film incentive program by Gov. Grandholm, I've changed my mind," said Teaster. "We will shoot part of this film here and run the production from Lansing through Collective Development."

Teaster's "Ghost Town: The Movie," due out October 28, 2008, is a unique "Eastern" Western with old-Hollywood style story-telling, produced by Perry and Hornus. Directed by Jeff Kennedy and Teaster, it was Teaster's directorial debut. It is an 1800's Western set in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Ghost Town in the Sky family theme park. The compelling story of love, hate, revenge, and family honor showcases the two mountain men from John Boorman's "Deliverance" filmed in 1972. Voted number one movie villains of all time in "Maxim Magazine" in 2005, Herbert "Cowboy" Coward and Bill McKinney scared audiences with their mountain man delivery that struck fear in millions of movie-goers. In "Ghost Town: The Movie" they were reunited after 37 years.

"Ghost Town: The Movie" features noted Hollywood and television stars including Rance Howard, Renee O'Connor, Terence Knox and Tony Becker and country music stars Sammy Kershaw and Stella Parton. Teaster and Perry plan to work with similar notable talent on "TimberWolf."
