Halak Entertainment's Blue Marble Gang Hits Santa Monica for Walk for Farm Animals
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Three weeks after their first successful adventure, the Los Angeles chapter of The Blue Marble Gang joined the Walk for Farm Animals in Santa Monica, supporting Farm Sanctuary. The Blue Marble Gang is a children's animated television show promoting environmentalism and is currently being shopped around to networks by the creators and partners of Halak Entertainment, LLC, Julie Hassett, Piper Moretti and Ellen D. Williams. The show encourages parents and children to form their own Blue Marble Gangs in their communities to help solve the global warming crisis.
For their latest mission, kids of all ages showed up to the Walk for Farm Animals to support the Farm Sanctuary, a charity that works to end cruelty to farm animals and promotes compassionate living through rescue, education and advocacy. "Factory farming is detrimental to the environment," Moretti says, "the methane gases and wastes have a deep impact on the climate. The inhumane treatment of animals is another issue. We're here to make positive changes."
Several supporters from Yes on Prop 2 also attended the event. Proposition 2 is an initiative on the California ballot this November that would stop cruel and inhumane treatment of animals in factory farms, ending the practice of concentrating numerous animals into cages prohibiting them from turning around as well as helping with environmental impact. Farms would have until 2012 to make changes.
The Walk takes place across the country from mid-September to mid-October, and is one of the largest fundraisers for Farm Sanctuary. "It's a big day. Our mission is to let parents and children discover they have a choice, as well as a voice," Williams said, "that's how change is made."
"It's so important to teach children to care for the earth at a young age. It has a greater potential of becoming a way of life," Hassett said, "we want The Blue Marble Gang to do for environmentalism as Sesame Street did for literacy."
