The Sportsman Channel Accelerates Subscriber Growth With New Comcast Launches
Parent Company Puts Channel on Strategic Path to be the Leading Outdoor Network
NEW BERLIN, Wis., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sportsman Channel announced today new launches on several Comcast systems including Twin Cities, MN; Richmond, VA; central Pennsylvania; Independence, MO; Kokomo, IN; Olathe, KS; Redhouse, WV; Western WI; and the Chico, Grass Valley, Yuba City and Oroville systems in California.
Today's news follows the recent announcement of a new television strategy for InterMedia Outdoors, Inc. (IMO), parent company of The Sportsman Channel (TSC), that will shift all its programming -- including such popular shows as Guns&Ammo TV, In-Fisherman, Petersen's Hunting and Shallow Water Angler -- as well as many other content resources to The Sportsman Channel to build the channel into the country's leading outdoor network.
"We are pleased our cable affiliates recognize the value The Sportsman Channel brings to their markets and subscribers. Thanks to their decision to launch the only network 100% dedicated to hunting, fishing and shooting, they're filling the needs of the underserved audience in the outdoor community," said Mark Kang, VP of Affiliate Relations for The Sportsman Channel.
"This is one of many upcoming announcements that aligns with our goal of making The Sportsman Channel the leading outdoor network, both in distribution and ratings," says InterMedia Outdoors CEO Jeff Paro. "The channel has vast resources behind it and we are actively and aggressively tapping these resources every day to make TSC a better network for the consumer and a better value for the distributor."
In addition to the shows, the upgrading of The Sportsman Channel will include integration of stories and content from across the IMO portfolio, which includes: 16 national and 30 regional magazines reaching 25 million readers; 18 million page views across 24 websites, with 1.8 million unique monthly visitors; and 49 million radio listeners. The Sportsman Channel and its partners will also benefit from creating and leveraging a multi-million dollar platform of promotion, advertising sales and marketing across all IMO outlets.
