Consumer confidence continues its slump as financial worries mount, according to RBC CASH Index

U-S consumer confidence eroded this month as Americans' worries over every facet of their financial situation mounted, according to the most recent results of the R-B-C CASH (Consumer Attitudes and Spending by Household) Index. Economic attitudes soured across the board, with consumers viewing the current economy negatively and displaying deep pessimism about the future. As a result, the overall R-B-C CASH Index for June 2008, released by R-B-C, stands at an all-time low of 22 point 5, dropping nearly 17 points below May's 39 point 0 level.

Verizon Wireless To Acquire Alltel; Will Expand Nation's Most Reliable Wireless Network

Verizon Wireless has entered into an agreement with Alltel Corporation and Atlantis Holdings L-L-C, an affiliate of private investment firm T-P-G Capital and G-S Capital Partners, to acquire Alltel Corporation in a cash merger. Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications) and Vodafone. Under the terms of the agreement, Verizon Wireless will acquire the equity of Alltel for approximately five-point-nine-billion-dollars. Based on Alltel's projected net debt at closing of twenty-two-point-two-billion-dollars, the aggregate value of the transaction is twenty-eight-point-one-billion dollars. The parties are targeting completion of the merger by the end of the year, subject to obtaining regulatory approvals.

David Archuleta Signs to 19 Recordings/Jive Records

It was announced that American Idol sensation David Archuleta has signed to 19 Recordings/Jive Records. Archuleta is currently gearing up for the upcoming American Idol tour which kicks off on July 1st in Glendale, Arizona. The 17-year old is expected to release his debut album later this year. David Archuleta, the runner-up on the current season of "American Idol," has three songs entering the Hot 100 this week.
