ActiveVideo Networks to Unveil New Applications to Enable Increased Subscriber Use, Targeted Advertising Revenues at Cable Show

Demos To Include Social Networking Functionality, VOD Menuing, ActiveVideo Channels

NEW ORLEANS, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- ActiveVideo Networks(TM), which is creating a new viewing environment that infuses TV with Web content and interactivity, announced today that it will be demonstrating at The Cable Show May 18-20 a dramatically expanded portfolio of new programming and applications that enable new levels of diversity, personalization and targeting on television.

In its booth, No. 415 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, ActiveVideo Networks will be showing upwards of 20 applications -- more than triple the number shown at the Cable Show in 2007 -- that have been designed to enable cable system operators and programmers to attract and retain consumer interest and generate new targeted advertising revenue. All of the applications create a compelling media experience on television by leveraging key elements of the Web environment.

Applications that will be demonstrated to Cable Show attendees include:

-- Social networking functionality that allows viewers to link online
communities with television viewing, and to share recommendations of TV
shows, movies or other media;
-- Video-on-Demand menuing that can drive usage by enabling viewers to
sample VOD content through rich media, trailers and metadata.
Additional functionality includes search allowing viewers to quickly
and easily find titles, actors and genres of interest; and
-- ActiveVideo Channels and advertising showcases that can immerse viewers
in specific relevant content, create customized and personalized
experiences, enable them to learn more about a particular story or
product, and even allow them to make a purchase - all using keyclicks
on standard remote controls.

"What consumers can do with technology is at least as important as the technology itself," said Mark Dawson, vice president, programming services for the ActiveMedia Group, ActiveVideo Networks' programming and content incubator. "The applications we will be unveiling at The Cable Show will allow programmers and network operators to create personalized universes in which viewers can connect with brands and properties on-demand and in real time on television, just as they do on other platforms."

"Our evolution from ICTV to ActiveVideo Networks over the past year has reflected our growing ability to provide not just the technology, but also the content that will drive the next generation of television," said Jeff Miller, president and CEO of ActiveVideo Networks. "The dramatically increased number of applications, programming and partnerships we are demonstrating at The Cable Show underscores the unique ability of ActiveVideo to deliver television that keeps up with its audience."

In addition to Social Networking, VOD, ActiveVideo Channels and Ad Showcases, ActiveVideo Networks also will be showing: Personalized Mosaic, a customizable video-rich, navigational interface; shop-by-remote; games by TAG Networks; and high-definition, persona-based home screens. ActiveVideo Networks also will demonstrate ETV applications that enable cable to realize its full interactive potential by leveraging the respective strengths of the ActiveVideo(R) Distribution Network and the industry's ETV platform.

ActiveVideo allows television viewing to be shaped by a wide range of entities, including traditional and Web-based programmers, local cable affiliates, consumer electronics companies, advertisers, social networks and even the audience itself. ActiveVideo immerses consumers in an engaging experience that combines Web video, Web 2.0 functionality and traditional television - including today's widescreen, 16:9, Dolby-surround HD home entertainment environment. ActiveVideo programmers include a wide variety of leading brands, including Fox, CNN, HSN, TAG Networks, Reuters, AccuWeather and others.
