iTunes Tagging with HD Radio Technology
iBiquity Digital Corporation, iTunes(R) and major radio broadcasting groups have joined forces to launch a new service -- iTunes Tagging with HD Radio(TM) technology. As the most compelling music discovery feature from local broadcasters exclusive to HD Radio technology, iTunes Tagging enables customers to tag songs they hear on HD Radio broadcasts, then preview, buy and download those songs from the iTunes Store. Broadcasters like CBS Radio, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Cox, Entercom and Greater Media have announced that they will implement iTunes Tagging in their HD Radio broadcasts.
Today, there are more than 1,600 radio stations broadcasting using HD Radio technology with over 750 offering HD2 and HD3 multicast channels, providing consumers in 188 markets with new content and format choices, data services and crystal-clear sound. With coverage reaching 83 percent of the U.S. population, HD Radio technology is the hottest digital lifestyle upgrade around.
Polk Audio's I-Sonic(R) Entertainment System 2, the first HD Radio receiver with iTunes Tagging capabilities, is now available in Apple Stores nationwide, the Apple Online Store, the Polk Audio Web site and select Best Buy locations. Also incorporating the revolutionary iTunes Tagging technology, devices from other key industry consumer electronics players have been announced.
