GLENDALE, Colo., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Glendale Raptors Rugby Football Club announced that their men's home matches are being broadcast nationally and internationally through two prominent media outlets.
The live rugby matches are being broadcast through MediaZone.com, a leading global online broadcaster specializing in sports, entertainment, and international programming. MediaZone.com offers subscription and pay-per-view access to live and On Demand programs to a substantial and fast-growing paid international customer base. The Glendale Raptors 2007 fall matches were available through MediaZone.com and the 2008 spring season is now being carried both nationally and internationally by the online broadcaster. A link to the live broadcast is posted on the Raptors' website on game day at http://www.glendalerugby.com/.
FSN Rocky Mountain is covering the Glendale Raptors on a delayed basis. A replay of the Raptors home matches can be viewed Sunday mornings from 7am to 9am on FSN. The 2008 Spring Season launched on March 1st with the Glendale Raptors against the Seattle Rugby Club. FSN also made the local broadcast replay available to the Seattle, Washington area the next day based on requests from the region.
"We are very excited and pleased to have the media exposure these two fine broadcasting outlets bring to our rugby football club," stated Mike Dunafon, Mayor Pro-tem of Glendale, Colorado. "It is not only our goal to gain recognition for our fine city and our rugby program (Glendale has built the country's first municipal owned and operated rugby-specific stadium in the United States) but, to also bring about an educational process and appreciation to Colorado and the United States about one of the world's most popular sports. Often called 'a game for ruffians played by gentlemen,' rugby offers something to individuals of all ages from full contact to the ever-growing popularity of "touch rugby." As we like to say, "Rugby is the game for life," continued Mr. Dunafon.
The remaining games for the Raptors' 2008 Spring schedule to be broadcast are:
April 13, 2008: Glendale Raptors v. Pearl City RFC
May 11, 2008: Glendale Raptors v. Grand Junction
