Clifton Production Services Tapped to Design 'Big Brother 9' POV Challenge
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Clifton Production Services announced today that they designed, implemented and operated the Power of Veto challenge that will air on tonight's episode of "Big Brother 9".
"The Big Brother producers had envisioned this challenge for quite some time but never found the right solution." Said CPS founder Raphael Kryszek, "Our resourceful team was able to come up with a simple, functional and cost effective answer that brought this POV challenge off the drawing board and into the Big Brother backyard."
The challenge, which consists of a giant TV puzzle was achieved by constructing a matrix of 9 (3x3) 42" plasma televisions each driven by their own off-the-shelf Apple Mac Mini. Each computer utilized its own remote control to allow channel changing through individual still images on each display. The images were organized and fed by a standard iPhoto slide show. Only the correct sequence of stills solved the puzzle. To intensify the difficulty level, there was a decoy sequence of images that was impossible to solve and the houseguests had no idea which remote controlled each TV. The competition was performed on an individual basis and whoever solved it the fastest won the coveted Power of Veto.
Apple Mac Minis were selected as the base operator of the challenge due to their size and appearance which could be easily integrated into the production design. The Mac Mini's pre-packaged bundle of iPhoto software, "pairable" remote controls and integrated remote screen sharing, were also factors in the selection of the equipment to make the puzzle feasible.
Tune in tonight April 15th 2008 to watch the entire competition at play on CBS at 9PM ET/PT.
