Oakwood Physicians, Nurses and Caregivers to be Featured in New Radio Program

"Champions of Care" will debut March 9 on News/Talk 760 WJR

DEARBORN, Mich., March 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Oakwood Healthcare System (OHS) physicians and nurses will be featured in a new radio program entitled Champions of Care, beginning Sunday, March 9. This one-hour weekly radio program will highlight the work of accomplished Oakwood physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals through stories of compassionate care, physician profiles, patient testimonials and other healthcare topics of interest. The program will air on Detroit's premiere news/talk radio station News/Talk 760 WJR every Sunday at 10 a.m. and will be hosted by WJR Assistant News Director, Lloyd Jackson.

"For years, Oakwood's clinical care has long been the best kept secret in the region," said Brian Connolly, president and CEO, Oakwood Healthcare, Inc. "This radio program will allow us to recognize the exceptional care provided by our physicians, nurses and other clinicians in a very public and meaningful way, and it's an excellent opportunity to tell Oakwood's story to tens of thousands of listeners every week."

Champions of Care will be comprised of four standing segments, which include:

-- Health Watch, featuring Oakwood physicians speaking about topics of interest such as diabetes and heart health

-- Everyday Heroes, recognizing nurses or other healthcare professionals for their remarkable care, including on-air patient testimonials

-- Champions of Care, profiling physicians highly regarded for their remarkable care

-- Oakwood Making News, providing a calendar of upcoming events, awards and recognition for the system, and a Roving Reporter story spotlighting Oakwood facilities, events and services

"We look forward to the launch of this new program on WJR that will not only provide useful medical information to our listeners, but will also showcase the passion that Oakwood has for quality health care and all the remarkable people who make it happen each day," said Mike Fezzey, WJR President & General Manager.
