R&B Artist, Grammy-winner and Broadway Actress Mya Serves as National Spokesperson For Life-Saving Project
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., March 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- North Shore Animal League America, the world's largest no kill animal shelter, will launch its eighth annual Tour For Life, a national life-saving endeavor, on Wednesday, March 26th at 11:30 am at the Port Washington shelter. Grammy award winning singer, dancer and actress Mya, soon to be starring in the Broadway musical "Chicago," will lead well-wishers as the mobile units head out on simultaneous cross-country routes, destined for the west coast, Middle America, and south east cities, to help animal shelters and rescue groups adopt out homeless pets.
A life-long pet owner, Mya serves as national spokesperson for Tour For Life, sponsored by Nestle Purina PetCare Company. Tour For Life will visit 22 cities in 15 states over a four week period, with a grand finale on April 26th at FAO Schwarz toy store on Fifth Avenue, hosted by the "Chicago" star.
Speaking of her devotion to animals, the artist said that her own beloved pets, dogs Rambo, Pepper and Bear, bring responsibility, unconditional love, trust and balance to her life.
"As spokesperson for such an incredible organization, North Shore Animal League America, it's a great privilege, pleasure and honor for me to be part of an effort to save and improve people's lives by saving and improving countless animals' lives," commented Mya.
Joining Mya to send off the two mobile rescue units will be the nationally recognized "God Squad," Msgr. Thomas Hartman and Rabbi Marc Gellman, who will bless the units as they embark on their month-long mission.
