Lawrence Blatt Named Best New Artist in the Highly Coveted 2007 NAR Lifestyle Music Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- San Francisco, California-based composer, solo acoustic guitarist and Indie recording artist, Lawrence Blatt was named as the winner of the Best New Artist award in the highly coveted 2007 New Age Reporter's (NAR) Lifestyle Music Awards. Nominations for the awards were publicized in February 2008 and the winners were announced on Sunday March 9th 2008.

Blatt won the Best New Artist award based on his debut release entitled Out of the Woodwork. "With thirteen instrumentals on Out of the Woodwork, you get more than your money's worth if you love a varied approach to acoustic guitar recordings. Blatt deserves credit for not just his talent and skill on his instrument (which are considerable) but also how he managed to record an album as diverse as this one while infusing it with a single 'voice' uniquely his. One of the more interesting guitar releases I've heard in the last year or so, the album gets 'thumbs up' from me for both its originality and its overall artistry," said renown music writer and commentator Bill Binkelman in his review of the album.

"I am so grateful to the participating program and music directors for supporting my music and selecting me for the award. Music can communicate on many levels and I am hopeful that the recognition Out of the Woodwork receives following the Lifestyle Music Best New Artist award will serve as a conduit for my music to inspire and motivate people to reach for their dreams," said Lawrence Blatt when he learned of the news that he would receive the award.

Released in early 2007, the album hit the Top Ten on the NAR's Top 100 chart. Throughout 2007, Out of the Woodwork had a massive appeal on radio and was played on a significant number of stations everywhere from New York, L.A., Boston and Philly to Houston and Seattle as well as internationally. Non- commercial stations are particularly enthusiastic, as Blatt is airing on three formats including, New Age/World, Folk and Classical. Blatt has also found a loyal audience on Satellite & Cable radio and on Lifestyle and Online channels. Blatt's music has also been used for film and television and his composition "Here We Go" will appear in the Tom Greene film soundtrack Shred 2. Additionally, other Blatt songs are scheduled to be used for both the radio and Showtime TV versions of NPR's "This American Life."
