"This month's BarPulse demonstrates the power of Ecast as a launch vehicle for album promotions, particularly with a hotly anticipated new release like 'Float'," said Paul Koehler, label relations manager, Ecast. "For nearly two weeks before it hit store shelves, 'Float' was heavily promoted on the Ecast network and fans loved it! They chalked up enough plays to put five of the album's songs in our top 10 alongside radio hits in Pop, Hip Hop, Country and R&B."

Ecast BarPulse ranks plays of new music on the Ecast broadband media network, located in over 10,000 bars and nightclubs across the country. Adding more than 1,000 songs each week, Ecast keeps its finger on the pulse of U.S. nightlife and then issues a monthly ranking of the most popular song plays, nationwide.

St. Patrick's Day Survey

In addition to making a multitude of new songs available in February, Ecast leveraged its network of broadband touchscreens to survey consumers regarding St. Patrick's Day. Thousands of customers responded to an assortment of questions about rituals related to one of the most celebrated bar holidays in the country. Some interesting findings about the day of green beer and raucous parades were as follows:

-- 75 percent will be wearing the green in honor of the favorite saint
-- 61 percent love corned beef and cabbage; every other respondent hated
the timeless Irish staple
-- 29 percent choose to honor the patron saint of Ireland with a shot of
Irish Whiskey
-- 25 percent "cure" their hangovers by guzzling down water but coffee
came in a close second

"Whether we are looking at listening behavior or tracking touch-through rates on ad campaigns, Ecast is constantly monitoring consumer use and attitudes," said George Giatzis, senior vice president of ad sales, Ecast. "Conducting surveys is a natural extension of our interactive platform. They not only allow us to better understand our audience, they are an added value we offer to our advertisers, giving them unmatched metrics on their campaigns and the audience they are targeting."
