"It is my greatest desire, not only as President, but also as a working Casting Director, to gain the long overdue recognition for our untiring efforts."
To qualify as a CSA member, a Casting Director must have two years of main title credit and be recommended for membership by two other members in good standing. Yearly, 7 of the 14 board seats become vacant. Members are free to nominate himself or herself or another member to fill those seats. An election is then held where the entire membership votes. As of 2007, casting associates have been granted membership opportunities in the organization. One associate holds a seat n the board.
Collectively, the Board is responsible for managing the organization's finances, determining policy and membership guidelines. In addition, individual Board members chair the diversity, membership, website, activities, Casting Society Cares, and Stockings with Care committees. Finally, board members act as liaisons with standing committees for the Artios Awards in Los Angeles and New York, the New York Apple Award, and electing a Tony voter.
