WQED Sponsors Contest and Activities in Partnership With John Lennon Educational Tour Bus
Stops in Pittsburgh include Battle of the Bands competition
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (http://www.lennonbus.org/) will be in Pittsburgh this fall, and WQED is sponsoring a contest for college bands and musical groups called "The Battle of the Bands." The competition is open to bands from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and West Virginia. Any college-student band can send its demo for a chance to win WQED's Live from Studio A Battle of the Bands. The five finalists in the competition will be announced on WQED's OnQ at 7:30 pm on Monday, October 15, 2007. Finalists will participate in the live showdown on Sunday, November 4 in WQED's Studio A. The winning band will be able to record an original song and music video on the John Lennon Bus the following day with the assistance of the on-board engineers.
Winners will receive fabulous prizes presented by the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, its sponsors, and WQED Pittsburgh.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit, mobile recording and multimedia studio outfitted with current technological advances and traditional musical instruments. In its tenth year, the Bus continues to provide free hands-on programs to hundreds of high schools, colleges, Boys and Girls Clubs, music festivals, concerts, conventions and community organizations on an annual basis. Working together with some of the biggest names in music, the Lennon Bus encourages students to play music, write songs, engineer recording sessions and produce music video projects using the latest audio, video, and live sound equipment and technology.
