Starz Entertainment Promotes Shelanski to Executive Vice President, Programming

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Myers today announced the promotion of Stephan Shelanski to executive vice president, programming, from senior vice president, programming. He is responsible for Starz programming across all of the company's platforms. He will continue to report to Myers.

"Stephan is an outstanding executive with a wealth of experience and knowledge in programming," Myers said. "He has played a vital role in developing our original programming strategy, our high definition initiative and identified synergies with our sister companies, Starz Media and Overture Films. This promotion represents our commitment to expand our originals strategy and to continue to strive to bring the best programming to the millions of Starz, Encore and Vongo customers."

"I am very pleased with this opportunity to meet new challenges at Starz," said Shelanski. "I am especially looking forward to working with an extraordinary team to produce premium, high quality original series to complement our movie platform. I am confident our viewers will find our new originals both compelling and evocative."

Since joining Starz in 1994, Shelanski has been instrumental in securing the company's first-run programming through output deals; expanding the company's library deals; managing programming inventory; and building relationships with studio partners and affiliates. As EVP, Shelanski will continue to oversee all programming for the company, including acquisitions, original programming, and on-air interstitial content.

Most recently Shelanski launched the company's foray into original series, with several new shows currently in production for 2008. Previous originals included the production of the short form comedy series, "Head Case," and the stand-up comedy series, "Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-up." Other recent originals produced under Shelanski's leadership include documentaries, New Orleans Music in Exile, Bullets Over Hollywood, Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film, and Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride, a feature film documentary on Hunter S. Thompson.

Shelanski is a newly elected member of the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Radio and Television Film Society. He is a Jewish Resource Center Board member of the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, as well as a coach with the Colorado Junior Lacrosse Association.

Prior to joining Starz Entertainment in 1994, Shelanski was with Home Box Office (HBO) working as the director of Cinemax scheduling.

He is a graduate of Harvard with a BA in Mathematics and holds a Masters in Cinema Studies from New York University. Raised in Philadelphia, Shelanski resides in Denver with his wife and three children.
