Granite Broadcasting Corporation Announces Resignation of Bob Anderson

Granite Broadcasting Corporation Announces Resignation of Bob Anderson

NEW YORK, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Granite Broadcasting Corporation announced the resignation of Bob Anderson, President and General Manager of KBWB-TV in San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, the nation's fifth largest television market. Bob is leaving the Company to pursue new challenges and personal goals, but will remain at the station through the third quarter of 2007 in order to oversee the completion and launch of several new local programming initiatives that he created. Granite has engaged an executive search firm to secure a successor.

Mr. Anderson has devoted more than 30 years to the television industry, working in nearly every aspect of the business and spending the last 28 years in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose market. Bob joined Granite when the Company acquired KNTV in 1990. During his tenure with Granite, Bob has been the creative source behind the launch of many successful new local programs. While at KNTV, Bob created and launched three weekly shows that still air on KNTV, Tech Now, Sports Sunday and Wine Country Living, which is now the nationally syndicated show called In Wine Country. KBWB currently airs several of Bob's newest initiatives including daily environmental news called Your Green Report, and a half-hour lifestyle program called Your Green Life, which will soon be expanded into a weekly.

W. Don Cornwell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said "Bob has been part of the Granite family for more than 17 years and has proven to be an innovative and reliable leader through some very tumultuous times. When KNTV was sold to NBC in 2002, Bob chose to leave KNTV and remain with Granite to take on the challenging task of leading KBWB through a transition from a duopoly operation to a stand-alone WB affiliate. In this regard, Bob successfully established a new management team and re-built several departments that had been merged in the duopoly. Circumstances again called on Bob to show his ability to manage through challenging times when the WB network unexpectedly announced in January of 2006 that it would cease operations that fall. Bob came up with creative programming solutions in a short period of time to help the station transition to an independent television station. We will miss Bob and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Mr. Anderson said, "I am very happy to have had the opportunity to work with the very creative and dedicated staff of KBWB and with my colleagues throughout the Granite organization. I am proud of what we have accomplished for the station and the community we serve. While I will miss my friends and colleagues, it is the right time for me to pursue other goals and also the right time for another manager to take KBWB to the next level. I wish the station and the Company all the best."
