WASHINGTON, June 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is the daily "Profile America" feature from the U.S. Census Bureau:
SATURDAY, JUNE 9: BRASS BAND FESTIVAL
Profile America -- Saturday, June 9th. One of the small town summer joys of the past is being recreated this weekend in Danville, Kentucky. Some 40,000 people are expected to enjoy performances at the annual Great American Brass Band Festival. Concerts featuring world famous brass bands will be held on the lawn at Centre College and in the bandstand by the courthouse, as well as other locations. Other than concerts of patriotic tunes and popular songs, the festival each year also includes a hot-air balloon event, a 5K run and a bike race. Listening to live music is popular all around the U.S. Nearly 26 million people attend a musical concert featuring other than country and rock music at least once a year.
