NEW YORK, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifetime Television's popular series "Blood Ties," which is averaging 1.3 million viewers during its freshman season, will return for a second season of ten new episodes in the fall.

Airing Sundays at 10PM (ET/PT), "Blood Ties" will complete its first season of 12 episodes on May 20. The series premiered on Lifetime on March 11 and averages a 1.1 household rating.

Lifetime entered the mystical world with "Blood Ties," a drama series starring Christina Cox ("The Chronicles of Riddick") as a private investigator specializing in solving supernatural crimes, who joins in an unexpected partnership with a mysterious and sexy vampire. Based on Tanya Huff's best- selling novels The Blood Books, the series also stars Dylan Neal ("JAG"), Kyle Schmid ("Beautiful People") and Gina Holden ("Reunion").

Christina Cox is best known for her Gemini Award nominated performance as Angie Ramirez on "FX: The Series," as well as her role opposite Vin Diesel as mercenary Eve Logan in "The Chronicles of Riddick." Cox also was the lead in the romantic comedy "Better than Chocolate." Cox's television appearances include guest-starring roles on "CSI: Miami," "Cold Case," "Numb3rs" and "The Chris Isaak Show." Cox can also soon be seen opposite Ving Rhames in the upcoming historical feature film drama "Ascension Day."

Kyle Schmid appeared in the Canadian film "Spill" and later went on to star in "The Sandy Bottom Orchestra," which earned him a Young Artist Award nomination for best supporting actor. He was most recently seen as a recurring character on the ABC Family drama series "Beautiful People." Other television appearances include guest-starring roles on various series including "I Was a Six Grade Alien," "Strange Days at Blake Holsey High," "The Zack Files," "Odyssey 5" and "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Other credits include the telefilms "Alley Cats Strike," "Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life," Lifetime Television's "Sex & the Single Mom" and Disney Channel's "The Cheetah Girls." Schmid's feature film work includes roles on "The Covenant," "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," "A History of Violence" and "The Pacifier."

Dylan Neal is a well recognized face on television, having appeared in recurring roles on "JAG" as Lt. Dalton 'Boomer' Jonas; Nick Sweeny on "Hyperion Bay;" Dylan Shaw on "The Bold and the Beautiful;" Cory Robbins on "Pacific Palisades" and "Dawson's Creek" as Doug Witter. Neal was also seen on the series "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," "Relic Hunter" and "She Spies." His other television credits include the TV shows "The War at Home," "CSI: Miami," "Kevin Hill" and "Thieves." He also appeared on the telefilms "Vampire Bats" and "Locusts." Neal was also featured in the film "40 Days and 40 Nights" with Josh Hartnett.

Gina Holden began her career as a model, finding success in Japan where she became the face of Shiseido cosmetics and appeared on over twenty magazine covers. Holden later discovered her love of acting in college and has since appeared in a variety of roles on both film and television. Her film credits include "Code Name: The Cleaner," "Fantastic Four," "Final Destination 3" and "The Butterfly Effect 2." Holden's television work includes a recurring role on the series "Reunion" and "Da Vinci's City Hall." She was also seen on "The L Word," "Psych," "Supernatural" and "The Dead Zone."

The series is executive produced by Randy Zalken ("Under the Mistletoe"), Kirk Shaw ("Battle in Seattle"), Marshall Kesten ("Air Master") and Peter Mohan ("Mutant X") who also serves as the show runner and wrote the premiere episode.
