Get with it Anaheim! Ottawa Band introduces "new hockey anthem" to stir "hockey challenged" Southern California
OTTAWA, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- It's been 14 years since the Cup has rested in Canada. Alta Vista Social Club's (AVSC) "Long Way Home" (LWH) believes their simple messages "Never give up til that Cup comes home" and "We've gotta believe" will engage players and fans to bring it home. However, their new song is written for fans everywhere, even Anaheim.
AVSC's Larry Pegg says; "This is the fastest, roughest and most graceful team sport on the planet yet on the hockey awareness and appreciation scale, so far Canadian press is describing Anaheim as boring and lost. Yawn! It's time for an image tune-up Anaheim! We've heard you southerners enjoy religion, well how about a new religious craze? Hockey!"
"To help you guys out we're releasing LWH, a true hockey song. LWH is about believing in your, mine, everyone's hockey dream! It's catchy and it's catching on".
Numerous radio stations across Ontario have been playing LWH including interviews on CBC radio and local TV.
Pegg says: "LWH is accessible, even to kids and grandma's. It's a family song that steers away from the proliferation of testosterone-laced tunes that are flooding airwaves and arenas around the country. LWH remembers the good old hockey game and pays it the respect it deserves."
Pegg hopes Anaheim fans will recognize that the common thread for all hockey success stories and for all hockey teams is that it truly is a "Long Way Home" (to the Cup). "The Stanley Cup is described as the most gruelling championship on the planet, playing up to 28 games. Imagine running a marathon and fighting a prize-fight while simultaneously juggling and figure skating. Now picture doing this up to 28 playoff games. My message to all fans, keep believing in and learning about your team, no matter where they're from. Never give up and it will come home some day. What can I say? It's a pop song too! Hope you like it."
