From Universal Home Entertainment: Just in Time for Father's Day Academy Award(R) Winner Clint Eastwood Stars in Three Classic Western Adventures Also Featuring Oscar(R) Winners Robert Duvall and Shirley MacLaine, 'Clint Eastwood: Western Icon Collection'

'High Plains Drifter,' 'Joe Kidd' and 'Two Mules for Sister Sara' Together in One Historic DVD Collection Available May 1, 2007 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- No actor in Hollywood is as skilled at portraying the enigmatic outsider as veteran actor Clint Eastwood. Now fans have a chance to own three of his iconic Westerns when "Clint Eastwood: Western Icon Collection," comes to DVD on May 1, 2007 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. "Clint Eastwood: Western Icon Collection" includes three of this Hollywood legend's most popular films: "High Plains Drifter," "Two Mules for Sister Sara" and "Joe Kidd." Digitally remastered for optimum picture quality, the collection showcases Eastwood in some of his best-loved roles, playing opposite fellow Oscar(R) winners Shirley MacLaine and Robert Duvall. This singular two-disc set comes specially packaged and arrives just in time for Father's Day.

In a career that spans more than 50 years, Clint Eastwood has established himself as one of Hollywood's most well-regarded actors and filmmakers. No leading man since John Wayne has been as definitively associated with this distinctly American genre as Eastwood and his gallery of laconic loners and hardened anti-heroes adrift on the wide-open plains. "Clint Eastwood: Western Icon Collection" is priced at $19.98 SRP.

SYNOPSES

"High Plains Drifter"

In "High Plains Drifter," Clint Eastwood reprises the role that made him an icon: The Man with No Name. But this time the actor has also inherited the directing reins from spaghetti western legend Sergio Leone. The town of Lago has been ripped apart by lawlessness when a stranger (Eastwood) mysteriously appears. After witnessing his prowess with a six shooter, the townspeople hire him to protect them from four murderous outlaws. The Stranger renames the town "Hell" and sets to making it seem that way for its residents, all the way to the shocking, shoot-em-up finale.

"Joe Kidd"

Acclaimed veteran western director John Sturges ("The Magnificent Seven," "Bad Day at Black Rock") helms a top-notch action-adventure from a script by novelist Elmore Leonard. Wealthy New Mexico landowner Frank Harlan (Robert Duvall) signs up Joe Kidd (Eastwood), a former bounty hunter turned hired gun, to protect his holdings from restless locals. After putting down an armed uprising, Kidd falls for a beautiful rebel and learns that his new boss is a treacherous, cold-blooded killer. When Kidd changes sides in the conflict and helps the rebels press their claim in court, his decision leads to a life or death confrontation with Harlan.

"Two Mules for Sister Sara"

Clint Eastwood and Shirley MacLaine headline a classic Eastwood adventure set in French occupied Mexico. A mysterious drifter named Hogan (Eastwood) rescues a feisty nun from a vicious attack and agrees to escort her to her next destination. On the way, he is confused to find himself attracted to Sister Sara (MacLaine), who has a few secrets of her own. Sara admits that she is really on her way to meet a band of Mexican freedom fighters and convinces Hogan to join forces with them on a dangerous mission. As the group attempts to capture an enemy garrison, the film builds to an unforgettable finale.
