AIM Editor Kincaid to Bill O'Reilly: Pull Out of Sharpton's Conference

AIM Editor Kincaid to Bill O'Reilly: Pull Out of Sharpton's Conference

WASHINGTON, April 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid has called on FOX News Channel personality Bill O'Reilly to pull out of an Al Sharpton conference on Wednesday, April 18. O'Reilly is scheduled to be a featured attraction at a "Keeper of the Dream" VIP event at Sharpton's National Action Network Convention in New York City. The event also features several leading Democratic Party politicians, including Hillary Clinton.

Kincaid charged that O'Reilly's attendance at Sharpton's conference is part of an effort by the FOX News host to avoid the "Imus treatment" at the hands of Sharpton and others. The AIM editor noted that O'Reilly has already been labeled a bigot by the George Soros-funded group, Media Matters, which began the get-Don Imus campaign. "This is an attempt to buy protection from Sharpton and his ilk," the AIM editor said of O'Reilly's attendance at the event.

The AIM editor also highlighted the scheduled appearances of other media figures at the Sharpton conference, including Joe Scarborough of MSNBC, Brian Williams of NBC News, Soledad O'Brien of CNN, Martin Bashir of ABC News, and Mike Wallace of CBS News. Kincaid explained the media attendance by saying that the media are scared of what Sharpton and his tag-team partner, Jesse Jackson, can do to them. "They're cowards," Kincaid said of the media participating in the Sharpton conference.

Kincaid's new column, "O'Reilly Sells Out to Sharpton," is available on Accuracy in Media's website at http://www.aim.org/.

The column says Sharpton's record, including a conviction for lying in the Tawana Brawley hoax, makes Imus's racist shock jock utterances look mild by comparison.
