NetStudio.TV and Vagrant Records Announce Online Contest to Create Music Video for Senses Fail
First-Of-Kind Contest Will Allow Fans of Band to Collaborate on Music Video for Hit Song 'The Priest and the Matador'
NEW YORK, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- NetStudio.TV, Inc., the premier online production company specializing in collaboratively developed content, is pleased to announce the launch of the first-ever contest allowing music fans to collaborate on a music video concept via the internet.
In partnership with Vagrant Records and rock band Senses Fail, NetStudio.TV will host the contest on its web site "www.netstudio.tv", from March 1 through March 22. The contest's objective is to develop a detailed story idea for "The Priest and the Matador", the acclaimed song from the band's latest album "Still Searching". The winning video concept will then be shot and produced by NetStudio.TV in mid-April.
"Our innovative technology will allow us to channel the creative energies of the band's fan base in an organized and productive way," said veteran producer/director Chris Marcantel, who serves as NetStudio.TV's president. "Our process allows us to reward and recognize not just the winner of the contest, but many participants who contribute to the process in a significant way. This should make for a very exciting competition. So far, the response from the band's fan base has been exuberant."
"Online competitions are becoming quite mainstream," said Manoj Narang, the founder of NetStudio.TV and creator of its innovative technology. "However, the scope of what is possible with creative collaboration is limited without a compelling way to reward good peer review by the participants. Ours is the first commercial process for enabling online creative collaboration which explicitly addresses this issue, making feasible a whole host of compelling applications not otherwise possible."
The contest has been promoted for several weeks on web sites operated by Senses Fail, and will be promoted on other targeted web sites as well. The contest will be staged in multiple rounds, and will encompass not just the high-level story idea, but the fleshing out of story details as well. Prizes will be awarded to participants who supply the highest quality of creative content, as adjudicated by their peers, as well as to participants who conduct the highest-quality review work, as judged by NetStudio.TV's proprietary algorithms. A separate "Grand Prize" will be awarded to the winner of the contest's first round, in which the high-level story concept will be selected.
