Arizona Photo Enforcement Company Helps National TV Show Test Speed Camera Myths - Airing March 7

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- While Arizona legislators are wrangling over whether or not to make obscuring your license plate against the law, Scottsdale-based American Traffic Solutions (ATS), the photo safety enforcement vendor for cities like Phoenix, Mesa, Glendale, Avondale, Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Houston, was tapped by "MythBusters" co-hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to determine, once and for all, if any of the popular tricks for avoiding speed camera tickets work.

ATS and its digital radar speed cameras will be featured on the March 7, 2007 episode of "MythBusters" entitled "Speed Cameras" which airs locally on the Discovery Channel at 10 p.m. (Please note: the myths tested relate to speed cameras, not red-light cameras and the show featuring ATS should not be confused with the "Beating Radar Detectors" episode that airs at 8 p.m. on March 7).

Adam Tuton, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, took ATS' Axsis(TM) SC-300 Radar speed camera to northern California, where the "MythBusters" team set out to test the urban myths about how to avoid a speed camera ticket. Filming was done at an abandoned runway of the Alameda Naval Air Station across the bay from downtown San Francisco and at the Infineon Speedway in Sonoma County.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, ATS is locally-owned and operated. The Scottsdale facility serves as the Company's Global Network Operations Center which is linked to all active cameras and data collection devices worldwide. ATS maintains regional facilities in New York City, NY, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA, Mesa, AZ, St. Louis, MO and Houston, TX.

The company's founders, brothers Jim and Adam Tuton, initiated America's first municipal photo radar program in Paradise Valley in 1989 and introduced Scottsdale's photo enforcement program in 1996. ATS provides photo safety and toll road enforcement programs to over 50 clients throughout the United States, Canada and New Zealand.
