Career Retrospective Celebrates The Band's Timeless Sound With Select Gems & New Song - DISCOUNT FIREWORKS: A COLLECTION

NEW YORK, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- It has been more than 15 years since Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist - the husband and wife singer/songwriter duo collectively known as Over the Rhine - emerged from Ohio with their patchwork quilt songs and close-hewn harmonies.

Discount Fireworks: A Collection, available in stores February 6th, is the first collection of their songs to chart their professional trajectory from 1991 to the present day featuring performances from each stage of their development, from their 1991 debut album Til We Have Faces through 2005's Drunkard's Prayer, including songs from their early out-of-print IRS recordings.

Discount Fireworks: A Collection also features one new, previously unreleased song, "Last Night on Earth Again," which opens the compilation and provides fans with a lighthearted snapshot of the band's survival in an increasingly unpredictable industry.

Linford and Karin handcrafted the collection, which Linford characterizes as "A birthday cake baked from fifteen years of musical chicken scratch."

"They were the songs that we needed to write at the time," he added. "If we hadn't written them, they wouldn't exist. A good song that matters to somebody will always matter. If you inspire someone, it doesn't matter if you're John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, or a married couple from Southern Ohio: the world got bigger, the lungs hold more air.
