Hospital Costs for Children with Flu May Be Higher Than Thought
Going into another flu season, a new study reports that hospitalizing children for influenza may cost up to three or four times the previously accepted estimates. Pediatric researchers from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia say their finding strengthens the economic justification for broadly vaccinating children against flu. The study found that the cost of influenza-related hospitalizations in children was about 13- thousand dollars each -- compared to most prior studies that estimated the cost at three to four thousand dollars. The study appears in the November issue of Pediatrics.

Breaks Ground on Historic $100 Million Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C.
The Washington, D-C Martin Luther King, Junior National Memorial Project Foundation has announced official plans for the Memorial's Ceremonial Groundbreaking and Gala in Washington D-C on Monday, November 13th.
Nearly a decade in the making, the historic Ceremonial Groundbreaking and Gala herald the coming of the Memorial which will stand on the National Mall at the east end of the Tidal Basin, in direct line with the landmark Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. The four-acre tribute will be the first major Memorial on the National Mall to honor a man of color. The national event is the result of extensive fundraising efforts on behalf of the Foundation. Since the Memorial's inception in 1998, the Foundation has raised more than 65 million dollars out of the needed 100 million dollars to complete and maintain the Memorial.
