NBC's Today Show to Feature Sovereign Exploration Documentary on Thanksgiving Day
NEWTOWN Pa., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sovereign Exploration Associates International, Inc., ("Sovereign") (BULLETIN BOARD: SVXA) announced today that on Thursday, November 23, 2006, NBC's Today Show will feature a story on Sovereign's project activities as they relate to the discovery of what many experts believe could be a small fleet of ships that may include the HMS Fantome. The Today Show is one of America's longest- running shows, airing for over 50 years. The three-hour show is broadcast daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Additionally, a shorter version of the story will air on NBC's Weekend Nightly News on Sunday, November 26, 2006. The stories will be available for rebroadcast online at msnbc.com under the "Today Show" and "Nightly News" sections. Sovereign's initiatives are being documented as part of Principle Pictures' "Shipwrecks That Changed the World" series. Principle Pictures is a multimedia company specializing in educational content.
"Shipwrecks That Changed the World" is a five-part television documentary series focused exclusively on Sovereign's projects. Principle Pictures will capture the discovery and recovery of what may be the HMS Fantome as it occurs. In addition to the television program, a series of companion books, educational tools, and interactive Web sites is also planned.
Robert Baca, president and CEO of Sovereign Exploration Associates International, Inc., said, "I'm excited that the Today Show has chosen to spotlight Sovereign's work. Through the recovery of historical artifacts, we add to a deeper understanding of part of our nation's history."
Beth Murphy, President and Founder of Principle Pictures, stated, "Incredible American history is going to be pulled from the bottom of the ocean floor for the world to see and understand. In two hundred years there have been only two artifacts from the White House raid that have been recovered -- a jewelry box and a painting of George Washington rescued by Dolley Madison as she ran out of the burning White House. The importance of this underwater site to American history is unprecedented."
The HMS Fantome was a British warship that carried plundered goods seized during a raid on Washington, D.C., where the crew ransacked the White House and U.S. Treasury. The ship and accompanying fleet are believed to have sunk off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1814 on the return voyage to Britain with the spoils of war.
