National Amusements, Inc. Continues Epson, Symbol and Digital Dining Mobile POS Rollout to Seven Additional Theaters

Mobile POS Delivers Seat-Side Service, Increases Concession Sales, Enhances Customer Service

LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Epson, a leading supplier of value-added Point of Sale (POS) solutions, announced that seven additional National Amusements theaters are using Epson Mobilink(TM) wireless POS printers, along with Symbol(R) PPT8800 mobile computers and Digital Dining software, to increase food and beverage sales and enhance customers' overall theater experience.

The rollout, which was sold and supported by value-added reseller Hospitality Data System New England, began in November 2004 with three locations -- Long Island, NY, Los Angeles, CA and Springdale, OH, and has now expanded to Fairfax, VA, Preston/Louisville, KY, Stonybrook/Louisville, KY, Greene, OH and Milford, CT. National Amusements also plans to roll out the mobile POS solution to Maumee, OH and Franklin Park, OH theaters.

By delivering concessions directly to customers in their seats, National Amusements enhances its reputation for providing high-end services and amenities to its patrons. Using the mobile POS units, National Amusements employees are able to bring the highly profitable concession counter, which includes popular franchises like Sbarro, Ben & Jerry's and Starbucks, directly to the customer. The seat-side service provides speedy transactions, and customers don't have the inconvenience of leaving their seats to wait in long concession lines. "We are using the mobile POS solution to serve customers seat-side and to take inventory," said Vik Joshi, Director of Purchasing at National Amusements. "With the mobile solution, we offer patrons a more pleasurable and convenient theater experience, and we have definitely seen increased sales. We've also cut inventory time by 30%."
