THINKFilm's Emerging International Division Names Fenkel as VP
Company's Long-term Marketing Exec Changes Roles
NEW YORK, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- THINKFilm has elevated former Vice President of Marketing, David Fenkel, to Vice President of International, company President and CEO Jeff Sackman announced today. The move represents yet another step by THINKFilm to continue growing into a full service global independent film distributor.
Fenkel has been with the company since it began operations five years ago and has worked on every film campaign under Theatrical Head Mark Urman, including such notable titles as "BORN INTO BROTHELS," "THE ARISTOCRATS," "MURDERBALL," and "HALF NELSON." In his new role, Fenkel will report to THINKFilm's Senior Vice President Randy Manis and Sackman, representing the company at all markets and festivals, and will be involved with acquisitions as they pertain to the international marketplace.
About the move, Jeff Sackman says, "David has gained invaluable distribution and marketing experience working under Mark Urman on the domestic side. In addition he has learned the international landscape at a highly accelerated rate under former Int'l head, Mark Horowitz. In the month that David's been in the new position he's already closed a number of high profile deals. Now that the division is under Randy and David's domain, we are being very aggressive with our international strategy to continue providing edgy, high-quality, and commercially successful films for our international partners."
Fenkel will bring THINKFilm's International slate of completed films and projects in various stages of production to the American Film Market next month. Among the titles available for pre-sales' is the eagerly anticipated and already buzz-worthy in-production documentary tentatively titled "ZOO," an entertaining yet humanizing look at the life and bizarre death of a seemingly normal Seattle family man who met his untimely end while having sexual intercourse with a horse. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Robinson Devor (WOMAN CHASER, POLICE BEAT) the film explores the ensuing media coverage and public outcry that uncovered a secret community of apparently upstanding citizens who share this extreme and exotic appetite, revealing the enormous gulf between what we appear to be and who we really are.
Fenkel will continue to work out of THINK's New York City headquarters.
