New Online Reality Show, 'First Place,' Seeks First-time Homebuyers for Premiere Season
Contestants Compete for Prize Package and Webisode Fame
MERRILLVILLE, Ind., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Aspiring first-time homebuyers can apply to star in a new online reality show that captures the highs and lows that come with buying a first home. Presented by first-time homebuyer education and help center My First Home, the premiere season of "First Place" pits two different buyers against each other in a race to the closing. The winner will have the closing costs covered and receive a home prize package worth about $5,000. Contestants can apply online by visiting http://www.firsthomehelp.com/firstplace.
My First Home will select the first contestants by early December and begin filming by yearend. Each webisode of "First Place" will show a different stage of the homebuying process, from determining how much home the prospective buyer can afford, to the final closing. Two buyers will start the process at the same time; the one who closes first, wins. Cameras will follow the contestants through each step, plus they will each have a MiniDV video camera to document private moments the "First Place" camera crew doesn't capture.
"The show is a glimpse into the realities of buying your first home -- both the challenges and the triumphs," says Mike Aloia, Chief Marketing Officer. "The show will definitely be entertaining, but we hope it will be educational as well to anyone who has thought about moving from renter to homeowner and for one reason or another is too scared to make the leap."
Education is at the core of My First Home services, which include seminars and consulting sessions on topics like financing a home, budgeting and building wealth. The office interior actually has the look and feel of a real home. A My First Home Specialist will walk the prospective buyer through each step of the homebuying process, including finding the right home through in- house software that can hone in on the type of properties that make the most sense for that buyer. The Specialists are all salary-based and do not work on commission.
"Our Specialists are focused on getting buyers into a comfortable situation, not one that's beyond their financial means and over their heads," says Aloia. "They also make the process easy to understand for our customers because not long ago, they too were first-time homebuyers."
The race aspect of "First Place" was inspired by My First Home's specialty in getting homebuyers into their homes in as little 30 days. A division of wholesale lender New State Mortgage, My First Home offers loan options made for the first-time homebuyer, like 100% financing with no private mortgage insurance required.
